Supporting the activities at ELSC
ELSC is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on membership fees, grants, sponsorship and fundraising as its main source of operating funds. Hard to believe, but this vital community service is only made possible by members who tirelessly lobby for the funds to improve facilities, pay insurance, purchase rescue equipment, restock first aid etc. Simple ways to support our service to the community include:
- Ritches Community Benefit program. On your next visit to Ritches Aspendale Gardens, request a Community Benefit Card and nominate Edithvale Life Saving Club.
- Sponsorship - there are plenty of sponsorship opportunities available which support the services of ELSC and communicate your commitment to the lifesaving community. Contact thegull_elsc@hotmail.com for a Sponsorship Package.
- Donations - no donation is too big or small. Donations tins are located at the club during the patrol season or you can post your donation to us.
ELSC Merchandise
Wear the ELSC club colours and show your support. Choose from club skullcaps, bathers and rashies to fleecy jackets. Check out the range and prices or see Susie our Club Merchandise officer at nippers training sessions.
Working with Children checks
In 2006, the Victorian Government introduced a new checking system to help protect children under 18 years of age from physical or sexual harm. The Working with Children (WWC) Check creates a mandatory minimum checking standard across Victoria and helps to keep children safe by preventing those who pose a risk to the safety of children from working with them, in either paid or volunteer work.
ELSC in association with LSV have agreed to ensure that our members meet this standard and LSV have established the following timeslines:
BY MID2008 - All LSV/ELSC volunteers working with children (defined as under 18 years of age) including age managers, patrol captains, officials, coaches, chief instructors, training officers and assessors.
BY MID-2009 - All active LSV/ELSC members
BEYOND MID-2009 - All LSV/ELSC members to complete a WWC Check prior to confirmation of membership application.
Forms are available from the Junior Manager, the Post Office or here.
